About Us
Rachel, David and Chris live on 10 acres of land at Blue Thistle Cottages. They are all kiwi’s and have lived in Southland all their lives. Rachel grew up on a large farm in the Te Anau Basin so knows the area well. Rachel enjoys camping with family and friends in back country camping spots. She enjoys photography, and has a passion for old American trucks/cars and likes baking cakes and biscuits for the family. David is an engineer by trade and had his own business building jet boats for the past 20 years. He has been boating and around boats all of his life. David is passionate about fishing and whitebaiting. Chris is their son. He enjoys drawing, fly fishing, and cycling. Their pets include a fox terrier dog (Danny), two grey tabby cat (Abbey & Dotdot), and a goat (Bucko). They also have some Dexter cows, which are not pets but are very inquisitive and love having their photo taken.
